Centerfold Band Story (click on photo at left to enlarge)
A mainstay of Chicago rock and roll during the late 70s, Centerfold Band was a local suburban favorite appearing in every music venue and festival in the area. Whether opening up for national acts in Chicago or bringing down the house at Beginnings Nightclub in Schaumburg, they played with the energy level of a freight train. Radio station WLUP even featured them in their best of the local bands series. With the departure of lead singer Chris Valentine in the early 80s the group disbanded and the members all went in different musical directions.
Three of the original members have returned and along with the great addition of Cindy Safran and Tom Kranz, have made Centerfold one of the most versatile classic Rock and Roll bands playing in Chicago at this time. Cranking out those great 70’s and 80’s hits with the energy that made them famous, Centerfold is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. |
Cindy Safran
Lead Vocals
To say that good things literally drop from the sky would be an understatement with Cindy. She came out of the audience one night and sang a song with us cold. We could tell right away she had sang a song or two in the past. A formally trained vocalist, she has brought some great new material to the band... and made the "manly" practice place smell a lot better. |
Tom Kranz
Guitars, Keyboards and Vocals
Tom stepped into the lead guitar shoes when founding guitarist Tom Colton left the band. With 30 years of experience with "Trilogy Band", he can play more songs than a 15 year olds IPod. He also brings something we've been waiting for since 1975.... Keyboards. However, the best thing about Tom is his name is "Tom" which means we won't have to get our old band tattos removed. |
Eric Wedow
Drums and Vocals
For as long as anyone can remember, Eric just wanted to play drums... oh, well, except for when he wanted to play piano... oh, and, when he wanted play french horn. Ok, well at least he plays drums now. His first drum set was pots and pans. He would loudly bang on them until 4:30 every afternoon, then Mom would take them away and cooked dinner in them. He still plays really loud and still likes dinner. |
Mark Wedow
Guitars and Lead Vocals
Give a guy a new hat and he'll be happy for a day. Give him a guitar and he'll play for hours. Give him an amp that that goes up to 11 and the cops will be there in fifteen minutes. Mark's amp goes to 11. It always has.....

Chuck Federowicz
Bass and Vocals
Chuck is a tall guy who smiles alot. We make him stand in the back when we play because otherwise nobody could see over him. He has been playing bass ever since he broke the top two strings on his Silvertone guitar when he was a kid. He's the only one in the band allowed to have a mustache. He also plays clarinet but will never tell anyone. |
